Life took a full circle for Sakshi and Jay, when they first met through a common friend at his engagement which led them to eventually tie the knot in a simple yet elegant wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. WeddingSutra Favorite – Bon Evento made their dream wedding come true with their impeccable taste and design keeping in mind the minutest details while planning.

How They Met
Jay and I were acquaintances and met for the first time through a common friend. A few years down the line, when our mediator friend got engaged, I went to meet him to catch up on all the details. Right then, his phone rang, and Jay’s name flashed on it. I received the call and requested him to join us for lunch and pull our friend’s leg for not inviting us for his engagement, and that’s when we hit it off instantly. We met again for the second time when our friend wanted us to meet his fiancé. We both sat quietly in different corners since we hardly knew anyone there, and Jay swapped his seat and sat with me to ensure I was comfortable. We kept in touch post that, and later, he confessed his feelings. The rest is history.”

The Proposal
The blushing bride shares, “We had gone to Alibaug with our friends for a pre-wedding photoshoot. While we were at it, Jay instructed our friends to decorate our bungalow’s terrace. After we got done, he insisted we go to the terrace to enjoy the top view and the cool breeze in the evening. As soon as I finished climbing the last flight of stairs, I was surprised to see the whole place lit up with fairy lights, a champagne bottle ready to pop open, and photographers capturing the magical moment. Before I could absorb it all, he was down on one knee popping the big question.”

Wedding Venue
Sakshi shares, “We picked Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai for its stunning indoor and outdoor spaces, and unmatched hospitality and flexibility.”

Wedding Planning
“Detailing and personalization is the most important thing I wanted at our wedding, and Bon Evento fit the bill as they are known for their efficient planning. Everything I had envisioned, from a particular theme to specific elements in decor like glitter balloons, popcorn cart or potato stall, they made it all happen. I would have a random idea, and the entire team would come up with creative solutions to execute it. Since I am not a big fan of flowers, they presented over 100 different ways to add drama and glamour in the decor. For my wedding outfits, Jay custom-made all of them at his Bridal wear store called JD designs.”, shares the bride.

Wedding Functions

Ganesh Pooja and Haldat
The venue was decorated in green and yellow hues, birds, flowers, and the highlight was the couple’s miniature dolls which added a personal touch to this private function. Held at the bride’s residence, this Marwari function saw all the married ladies in the house acquaint the new bride-to-be with her daily responsibilities at her new home.

Sangeet
The Sangeet gala decorated with their wedding hashtag #inkeJAYSAkoinahi enticed the guests near the entranceway to take their cameras out and click pictures. After a stunning entrance where the couple entered with a flash mob and enthralling dance performances by their families on famous hit tracks, the couple exchanged rings and celebrated the evening by cutting a chandelier designed cake. Sakshi looked pretty in a yellow anarkali with a belt that spelled JD, which was designed and personalized by Jay. The groom, on the other hand, sported a blue jacket and kurta pajama set by Avega.

Bhaat
The day started early with a Bhaat ceremony initiated by the bride’s maternal family. It was aptly decorated with colorful elements such as swings, teapots, crates, and ladders. The bride made a jaw-dropping entry wearing her ancestral lehenga with silver work that was passed down by her great grandmother over generations. Her girl squad held glittering balloons to welcome her.

Haldi
For the haldi function, as Sakshi was smeared by the traditional turmeric paste, she was showered with buckets full of water and tons of marigold petals by her family and friends.

Mehndi
Their mehndi function incorporated all things the couple fancied from cricket, coke, and fries to a tattoo artist who drew a semi-permanent design depicting their wedding logo that was integrated with the mehndi and stood out with its black color. All the boys in the family got ‘JAYHO’ painted on their palms, so when everyone did the namaste to welcome the guests, they would see the wedding hashtag.

Wedding
Their wedding was a vibrant affair, as it observed a rich yellow color palette owing to Jay’s love for pineapples and Sakshi’s fondness for potatoes. It was adorned with fresh pineapples and placards displaying funny anecdotes for their tabletops. With a live potato corner serving fries, mashed potatoes, wedges, potato shots, the guests eagerly made their way to the stall.

However, the highlight was the split personality photobooth which expressed Sakshi’s persona with Bollywood elements on one side and Jay’s persona with Lord Shiva’s psychedelic musical elements on the other, creating a fun twist. As soon as the couple exchanged their varmalas, the Gayatri Mantra was played while the bubble machines blew bubbles into the air. Sakshi looked elegant in a beige and pink customized lehenga by JD designs, with a personalized belt that had the JD logo, their wedding name, and their nicknames embroidered on it. Jay looked dashing in a white sherwani with beaded work by Vig Sons.

Advice For Couples
Sakshi shares her insights, “There are bound to be disagreements with your fiancé and both the families while planning the wedding. Keep calm, learn to let go and make sure to enjoy every moment on your D-day.”
